This last week we received the Northern Lights Award of Merit from The Minnesota Association of Government Communicators (MAGC) for our work on the City of Edina extranet. To put it mildly, we are jazzed!
According to their website, “The MAGC is a peer organization of professionals who are dedicated to improving public-sector communications.” Websites and their internal communication platforms, or extranets, are huge components of modern-day communication.
To create the award-worthy extranet, we worked with Edina’s internal communications and IT departments over a 10-month period. We conducted interviews with Edina employees and main stakeholders to pinpoint goals.
Some of the items Edina was looking for were communication automation with existing systems. One example of this was mobile push notification for the Public Works, Fire, and Police Department.
“One of our goals was to have the City of Edina staff utilize the extranet more to access information, answer frequent questions, and find human resources and broadcast information,” explained Jeff Ruprecht, Interactive Director at Creative Arcade. “Since its launch, everyday use has seen a great increase and info-seeking phone calls have gone down. That tells us people are finding the info they need right on the extranet.”
“I could not ask for a better partner in the continued development of our employee extranet, Edinet, than Creative Arcade. The staff at Creative Arcade know just what we want and need to reach our employees in unique and meaningful ways online,” stated Jennifer Bennerotte, Communications Director at the City of Edina. “With expertise in website development and a commitment to staying on the cutting edge, the development team is often able to start working on custom features for the site the minute I’ve finished explaining what I’m trying to accomplish. They are responsive, creative, and take pride in all they do!”
Not to brag, but this isn’t the first time we’ve been awarded for our government website work. In 2019, we won a Silver Award for the St. Louis County website.
A huge thank you to our awesome client for nominating us and for sending us a physical award. You didn’t have to do that, and we really appreciate it! We’re looking forward to continuing to work together.
If you have any custom website problems you need a hand with, let us know. We’re more than happy to help.
