There are some lessons in life we all learn early on: look both ways before crossing the road, don’t talk to strangers, always wash your hands. Simple. Obvious. Non-negotiable.
And yet, here I am—two weeks post- “accident”—eating my healthy dose of humble pie.
I love to cook. I do it daily. I even enjoy showing others the right way to do things in the kitchen. But did I follow my own safety rules? You guessed it! No. No, I did not. While slicing a homemade roll, I decided to hold the roll in my left hand as I ever so casually used a serrated bread knife to cut it. Cutting towards my hand一like a total amateur.
I bet you can imagine what happened next. That’s right! An urgent care visit and four stitches later, I now have a Franken-thumb. But maybe the worst part? The sheer embarrassment of ignoring a rule so simple and so foundational.
The truth is, I’ve been guilty of cutting towards myself for years. I’d just never paid the price一until I did. And isn’t that how it goes in business, too? Just because something has worked in the past doesn’t mean it’s the best—or safest—option now.
Maybe you built your business with a few Facebook posts and a website that’s been kicking around since launch day. That’s great. But the digital landscape is constantly evolving, and yesterday’s strategy doesn’t always cut it today. (Pun intended.)
Sometimes we all need a fresh perspective—a second set of hands who knows what they’re doing. That’s where Creative Arcade comes in. We’re here to help you avoid those unforced errors, whether it’s a new campaign, a website refresh, ongoing blog content, or a full brand overhaul.
Think of us as your sous chef—experienced, thoughtful, and here to keep you from slicing your metaphorical thumb open. So maybe you won’t make the same mistakes I did and avoid cutting towards yourself.
