The work we did with St. Louis County on immunizations and medical assistance renewals is a testament to that approach.

For St. Louis County, we knew traditional tactics weren’t going to cut it. In both the immunization and medical assistance campaigns, we were tasked with creating fresh ideas that would resonate with people who may feel overwhelmed, skeptical, or simply disengaged. So, we pushed ourselves to think outside of the norm. We came up with solutions that not only caught the attention of our target audience and beyond but also inspired real change. 

 

Creativity Meets Strategy: The Immunization Campaign

With immunizations, we recognized that people had grown tired of the same old health messages – most of which had become background noise in the clutter of pandemic communications. So, we decided to sing a different tune – literally. By turning to song, we infused the campaign with a playful yet strong reminder of the importance of vaccinations. The music video wasn’t just a catchy jingle; it was a strategic decision to evoke a memorable response. 

We leaned on local talent, worked in the visually stimulating environment of the Duluth Children’s Museum, and created an engaging experience that families could enjoy. This creative approach not only broke through the clutter but also made an impact. It was relatable and fun, and it made health messaging approachable again. 

Our Childhood Immunization PSA video earned the Public Health or Public Safety Video Award and was nominated for Best of Show at the Minnesota Association of Government Communicators (MAGC) Northern Lights Awards. This award recognizes excellence in education or informational videos that highlight public health or safety agencies, programs, or services. 

 

From Informative to Engaging: Medical Assistance Renewals

Similarly, the medical assistance renewal campaign needed to stand out to get folks’ attention. We knew that simply informing people about the need to renew their coverage wasn’t enough. It needed to feel personal, urgent, and worth paying attention to. So, we created a narrative that played on the idea of meeting your future self – a future that might look very different if you fail to renew your coverage on time. 

By crafting a light-hearted yet impactful story, we brought the message to life in a way that felt engaging rather than daunting. Our creative twist took the dull topic of paperwork and transformed it into an entertaining reminder with real consequences, allowing the audience to connect with the message on a personal level. 

Our Medical Assistance Renewal Campaign was honored with the Video Campaign or Series Award for Medium entities at the Northern Lights Awards Ceremony, recognizing campaigns consisting of three or more segments that educate or raise awareness about critical issues. 

 

Our Process

Our process always begins with an understanding of the audience. We try to see the world through their eyes – what they’re feeling, their challenges, and what will genuinely capture their attention. From there, we brainstorm freely, knowing that some of the best ideas come from the wildest initial thoughts. Nothing is off limits in the beginning stages, and we constantly push ourselves to see how far we can stretch an idea while keeping the message clear. 

Once we have a concept, we execute it with intention. Every element – from casting to location, visuals to tone – supports the creative vision. But we never lose sight of the strategy behind the creativity. Our ideas are only as good as the results they generate, always focused on driving measurable success for our clients.
